Over the past four years, we have tackled a lot of different projects that needed to be done but we still have much work to do. There is still a lot of old infrastructure in Almonte that needs to be replaced or upgraded and plans have been put in place to address these items. We have implemented strategic and systematic approaches which will better monitor asset lifecycles improving maintenance and timely replacement in the future.

Although there are many , here are a few priority items that need attention:

  • Its time to start re-surfacing many streets throughout town as well as update the Master Transportation plan effectively for growth.
  • Continue updating and replacing old infrastructure and follow the Asset Management Plan to maintain and extend the asset lifecycles as long as possible.
  • Continue to go after as many financial grants as we can for capital projects.
  • We need to look at new sidewalks in areas used by seniors such as on Houston St. and Spring St. near the hospital.
  • By using new radar technology to address traffic issues such as speeding, we need to continue to work with OPP and County on these issues.
  • Continue growing our Business Park and increase our commercial tax base.
  • Continue to explore & implement more means to affordable housing in our community.
  • Continue modernization projects such as IT within the municipality to streamline services.
